Risk assessment

Before we start filming , we need to assess whether it's safe to film on location , also if they is any risks.

Part of our film is filmed in a woods location , there is certain risks filming here such as:

- tree roots sticking out

- wet mud (slippery)

- nettles 

-

Location

For the short film , as a group we decided on three main filming locations which were the woods , doctors office and a house.

The woods took up a fairly large part of the film. This is where she walks about

Costume and Props

Due to the fact alot of our film is filmed outside , as a group we decided on suitable clothing for certain scenes.

Brittney: Woods scene (thick green coat , skinny jeans , black converses and a purple bobble hat)
                                      The hat is what we used to show hair loss , we added darker make up under and
                                      around the eyes.

               Friendship scenes ( Red dress , various pieces of jewellery , black heels)
                                       Make up and hair is alot different a fresh healthy look


      
               Doctors scene (Cream Jumper , skinny jeans , boots)
                                      Make up is very much the same as the friendship fresh ,

Cast List

In our short film we have three characters which show throughout the film at some point.

Main character Brittney: (Amy Tibbett)

Doctor: (Joe)

As a group we decided four characters was a significent amount to have as less character's wouldn't give us enough to film and more characters would mean the film had to much happening for the five minutes.

Short film coursework

For my A2 coursework , I had to work in a group to create a short film around five minutes long. The short film I have chosen to create is the life of a young girl living with cancer and the struggles she faces in every day situations. It includes many different themes such as friendship , challenges and peer pressure. The film also includes two other compulsory themes which are time and technology whicih we had to use in the short film.

To help with the film , I had to create various plans such as cast list , location , costume , script and risk assessment. These lists helped alot and made the whole task much easier.

Week 1 In this week as a group we will decide on what idea we want to do for our short film

Week 2 Start filming our woods scene
-tripod/camera
-our main character Britney will be in this scene
-we will be using our first costume ideas
-various shots will be filmed including a long shot of her walking/close ups of the face , feet and hands/ mid shots of her body.


Week 3 In this week we will film the scene of Britney waking up one morning.
- upload filming from previous week onto final cut pro our chosen programme
-start to edit the woods scene from the previous week
- new costume/props
-tripod/camera
- our main character Britney will be in this scene
-various shots will be filmed including a many close up of her face waking up and getting ready , mid shot of her body and longs shots of the room.


Week 4 This week will include filming part of the friendship scenes
-tripod/camera
-new location (house)
- our main character Britney will be in this scene , as well as her friend Rachel
-new costume/props will be used such as drink and glasses/ table and chairs.
-various shots will be filmed including a mid-shot of the two characters in conversation/ close ups of both their faces/drink


Week 5 This week will include filming the other section of the woods at the same location
-filmed scenes from the previous week will be uploaded and edited on final cut pro
-the main character Britney will be in this scene
- the same costume from week two will be worn
- new props will be used such as a bench and cigarette
- various shots will be filmed including a close up of the face/ mid shot of her body/ long shot of her on the bench
-tripod/camera


Week 6 In this week we will film the doctors scene
-there will be a new filming location in an office
-new props such as doctors leaflets/ folders/posters /medical supplies
-Our main character Britney will be in this scene as well as Rachel, The Doctor and Britney’s mum.
- new costumes will be used for the characters
-tripod/camera


Week 7 In this week we will film the rest of the friendship scenes
-New filming location
-tripod/camera
-New props such as bowl/flour/nail polish/ hair products
-Our main character Britney will be in this scene as well as Rachel.
- Various shots will be filmed including a close up of the face/ hands /a mid shot of her and Rachel
-Uploading and editing of previous scenes will be done


Week 8 In this week we will be filming any last bits including the voiceover and final recording
-Tripod/camera
-Continuous editing of scenes
-New costume/ props including a scarf
- Our main character Britney is in this scene
